This easy recipe for homemade pizza makes every night pizza night! Turn store-bought pizza crust into a dine-in treat. I find it helpful to pre-cook the crust before topping it with sauce, cheese and extras. Even on a pizza stone, it doesn’t get hot enough in a regular home oven for a crispy crust without that step.
4 slices of bacon, cut into 1/4” slices
1 store-bought pizza crust
1 t. canola oil
3/4 C. tomato sauce
8-12 oz. fresh mozzarella, sliced
1 T. plus 1 t. maple syrup
1/8 t. crushed red pepper flakes
4-6 fresh basil leaves
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Spread bacon out on a sheet pan lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Cook in oven until lightly crisp. Remove from oven and place on a plate lined with paper towels and set aside
Turn oven heat up to 500 degrees.
Using floured hands, with extra flour on a work surface, stretch the dough around the periphery rotating it as you go until it takes on a thin circular shape. Place on a lightly oiled pizza stone. Place in the oven for 5-10 minutes until the crust just begins to lightly crisp. Remove from oven and ladle on tomato sauce, evenly spreading it out with the back of the ladle in a circular motion. Add slices of mozzarella cheese and bacon spread evenly over top. Place back in oven for 5-10 minutes until cheese is hot and bubbly. Remove from oven and drizzle on maple syrup and sprinkle with crushed pepper. Add fresh basil leaves over top and enjoy this easy recipe for homemade pizza!
